Solo Sci-Fi Sidekick now available on DriveThruCards! (+ a comparison of card quality)

So the proofs have come in, and as promised a much more affordable version of this deck is now available at DriveThruCards! The base price is now a mere $14 (plus shipping), so is a much more reasonable option – especially for anyone based in the Americas. You can find the product page here:- https://www.drivethrucards.com/product/360899/Solo-SciFi-Sidekick

Now that I’ve received my deck and given them a thorough look, I can give you a fair comparison between these and the pricier boxed version available from PrinterStudio.

Before I go into more detail, let me say that it is a fine product, entirely legible and completely fit for purpose – you can happily have these at your side whilst playing through your latest adventure

Read on for a comparison between DriveThruCards and the PrinterStudio decks…

Solo Sci-Fi Sidekick – Now Available from PrinterStudio!

Just as per the title, you can now order a physical copy of Solo Sci-Fi Sidekick from PrinterStudio! Follow the widget below or visit the site direct at https://www.printerstudio.co.uk/sell/designs/solo-scifi-sidekick.html

As previously mentioned, this is an expensive way to get a single deck – but it is the printer I have used for my proof copies, as seen in all promotional images here and used in my Odysee videos… As such I can vouch for the quality of both the deck and the tuck-box.

KickSTOPPED – The Future of Solo Sci-Fi Sidekick

Unfortunately, the kickstarter for Solo Sci-Fi Sidekick failed… Given that it is a niche product in a niche segment of a niche hobby, I’m not entirely surprised – especially given my complete lack of marketing skills, and near hatred for social media.

But this setback is not the end of the story, and I have new plans to get my creation into the hands of gamers…

15mm Sci-Fi Barricade – 3D Printed Scenery

15mmScenery-Barricade

I’ve started to design as much 15mm sci-fi scenery/terrain as I can before summer, with the hopes of having a sprawling mess of a gaming table for when I can get a proper group together for a while.

First up was a simple barricade, as pictured above – 4 or 5 of these can really help filter movement on the table! All files available from Thingiverse, as per usual – I’ll update this post if I can get better photos after painting.

Deep Space D-6 – Basic VASSAL Module

Recently I have been looking for board games to play solo, as I don’t always have other players around. Whilst trawling BoardGameGeek lists, I came across Deep Space D-6

AboutSplash

And I think it is awesome! It was an entry in their annual Solitaire Print&Play competition, so I grabbed the files, printed out a set and got playing.

If it bleeds, we can kill it

Finished up my predators the other day (one in stealth mode). I went too heavy with too dark a wash, took forever to bringĀ  any life back to this mini.
My 15mm AvP skirmish set is nearing completion though! The Marines are well underway, including an APC converted from a 99p shop toy firetruck. I just wish I’d taken some in progress pics, ah well.
